Description
The BIGTREETECH TMC5160T PLUS High Power Stepper Motor Driver features 8 high-performance MOSFETs mounted separately on a board with a maximum voltage of 60V. This enables a wider range of supported stepper motors and offers greater flexibility.
Compared to classic drivers such as the TB6600, it enables a much quieter and smoother operation of the stepper motor with less vibration and less overheating.
Key features of the TMC5160T PLUS driver
- 8 high-performance MOSFETs, separately mounted on the board, with a voltage resistance of 100 V, a current resistance of 93 A and an equivalent resistance of only 6 mΩ, which significantly improves the performance of the driver;
- It supports a maximum voltage of 60 V, a maximum effective current (IRMS) of 10.6 A and a peak sine current of up to 15 A. Active cooling must be provided for currents above 3 A.
- Enables StealthChop™* and SpreadCycle™* modes of operation selectable via on-board jumpers, with selectable stand-alone mode, UART mode and SPI mode;
- It produces significantly less heat compared to other drivers
- Strongly reduces engine vibration and prevents loss of steps;
- ESD protection on the power supply side of the driver and its logic to prevent damage from voltage fluctuations and static electricity;
- Built-in 24 V interface for connecting a fan for active cooling;
- Encoder interface reserved for DIY use;
- The package includes adapters and wires for standard and EZ drives;
*In general, the SpreadCycle mode provides more torque and higher position accuracy than the StealthChop mode. However, StealthChop mode can cause the engines to run significantly quieter in some cases.

Safety instructions
1. Turn off the power before installing the driver to prevent damage.
2. Do not plug or unplug the driver when the power is on to avoid damage.
3. Pay attention to the polarity when connecting; wrong polarity can destroy the driver.
4. For large currents (greater than 3A), it is necessary to provide active cooling for normal operation.
6. This driver uses a 0.022 Ω sampling resistor, so the maximum effective drive current is 10.6 A.
7. Pay attention to the sequence of connecting the power supply; ensure that driver power is turned on before logic power is applied. This means powering on the driver first and then the motherboard.
