Description
The TMC2209 V2.0 stepper motor driver is suitable for two-phase stepper motors. Built-in power MOSFETs handle motor currents up to 2 A RMS with protection and diagnostic functions for robust and reliable operation. The module is characterized by low energy consumption, cost efficiency and reliability.
TMC2209 V2.0 Stepper Motor Driver and its features
- Pins and operation of TMC2209 is the same as A4988 and DRV8825, but it additionally uses StealthChop2 technology and other special features, which together enable extremely quiet and efficient operation of the stepper motor
- Input voltage: 5.5~28 VDC
- Default current: 1.25 A
- Maximum current: 2.5 A
- microstepping up to 1/256

Datasheet of the TMC2209 chip: Datasheet
The TMC2209 stepper motor driver has a total of 19 pins.
Warning: Connecting or disconnecting the stepper motor while the stepper motor driver is energized may result in permanent damage to the stepper motor driver
Warning: To protect the driver from voltage spikes, a large (100 µF recommended) electrolytic capacitor should be used between the motor terminal (VMOT) and ground (GND) somewhere near the board.
