The 23SSM2440-EC1000 is two-phase Nema23 closed loop stepper motor 2.8Nm, which has a step angle of 1.8 ° (200 steps / revolution). Each phase draws 4.0A at 3.2V, giving a holding torque of 2.8Nm. 

Why use Nema23 closed loop stepper motor 2.8Nm?

We only know the exact position of the motor if the motor never loses steps. In the real world, there are several situations that can cause a motor to lose steps. To avoid these situations, stepper motors are often oversized. When the lower price and easier connection of classic stepper motors does not justify the risk of lost steps, another solution is the use of a stepper motor in a closed loop system (closed loop stepper motor), which enables feedback on the position of the motor axis and thus corrects positioning errors.

Closed loop stepper motors combine the advantages of stepper and servo motor technology. They run smoother and have lower resonance than stepper motors, provide position feedback and motion control, and don't lose steps. They are an alternative to stepper motors if energy efficiency, quiet movement and high load tolerance are required. Compared to servo motors, they have the advantages of high torque at low speeds, short settling time, correct positioning without oscillation, and lower cost for sizes that are often smaller.

How to connect a closed loop stepper motor with a driver?

This closed loop stepper motor is compatible with HBS57 stepper motor driver with closed sign. The motor has 2 cables, one for powering the coils and the other for connecting the "encoder" to the driver:
